Setup Voicent To Use Skype Phone Service

Use Skype

In order for Voicent software to make or answer phone calls, you must set up Voicent software to use a phone service, such as Skype.

Skype is a popular VOIP service with 300 million users worldwide. Skype allows users to make telephone calls over the internet to other Skype users free of charge and to landlines and cell phones for a fee. Since calls are made over the internet, you no longer need a physical phone line or a voice modem. Once you setup and configure Voicent for Skype, you can use any Voicent program as if you are using regular telephone lines.

Skype provides two types of services based on how calls are placed:

  • Skype Connect. Skype's business phone service that is standard (SIP) based. This service is competitive (0.6 cent per minute) and suitable for large call volume customers (300 simultanenous calls per account).
  • Skype Soft Phone. A Skype software program you install on your computer. This program acts as a phone so you can enter phone numbers and make and receive calls. This service is cheap but have major limitations. It is limited to 50 outbound calls daily. In addition, it does not work on Windows 7 since Voicent software requires Skype version 3.8. Newer versions of Skype soft phone software does not have the required API support. Click here to learn more about this option.

SkypeConnect is the recommended service to use for Voicent software. It is easy to setup and scale up. It works on Windows 8/7/Vista/XP. For more setup info, please see:
