7.2 Use Pre-recorded Audio

For fixed text prompt items, use pre-recorded audio files is a much better choice than use generated voice by a text-to-Speech engine. Normally, generating computer voice using a text-to-speech uses a lot of computing power and memory. Especially for a multi-line system, where several sessions of TTS conversions are running simultaneously, the system response time might slow down. Use pre-recorded audio does not require that same amount of computing resources. In general, you should use pre-recorded audio files whenever possible.

You have several choices for creating audio files:

  • use a professional recording studio
  • use a text-to-speech engine
  • use telephone to record
  • use computer microphone to record

For more details, please see Audio Quality FAQ.

Use a Text-to-Speech Engine

Select Audio > Create Audio by Text-to-Speech... from the program main menu.

Type in the text message, click the Save to .wav button.
