If the software failed to start due to enabling text messaging, then take a look at Failed to open COM port and Failed to find SIM card in Device.

1. Make sure your SIM card is not full

When the SIM card is full, the modem is not going to receive new incoming text message. Many times this is because the error messages fills up the SIM storage. You need to clean up the SIM card inbox to continue. For more info, please see Failed to receive SMS. SIM card is full.

Many times error messages, such as invalid phone number, can quickly fill up the SIM store. In addition to manually clean up the SIM inbox, you should also set the error message handling in the SMS option page under Setup.
