Voicent software products can run on any general-purpose computers without requiring specialized hardware. Our innovative and cost-effective solutions offer exceptional efficiency and flexibility to customers ranging from small businesses using single channel system to large enterprises and call centers making up to 10,000+ simultaneous calls. The computer can be either desktop or laptop. The key factors that determine the system requirements are the number of simultaneous calls, the usage of speech recognition, text-to-speech, and caller interactions. Each call requires one VOIP channel or one line. The more channels you use, the more powerful the computer should be.

CPU Requirement

In general, the more CPU power, the better the audio quality and responsiveness.

For a single channel system, any desktop or laptop computer with an Intel Core2 and 3GB memory is sufficient. For a 1-50 channel system, you need an Intel Core i3 processor; for 50-200 channel system, you need an Intel Core i5 processor; for a 200-400 channel system, you need an Intel Core i7 processor. For more channels, you need a computer with multiple Intel Xeon processors, each processor with multiple CPU cores; As a rule of thumb, use 50 channels per core. For example, Dell's PowerEdge R910 Rack Server can have 4 Xeon processors and each with 25 cores, for a total of 100 CPU cores. You can run a 5000 channel system. With more powerful servers, you can run 10,000 channels.

Memory Requirement

Each channel requires 70MB(Megabytes) in addition to the memory required to run the computer. The system performance will suffer greatly if lacking of sufficient memory. If you wish to run 100 SIP channels simultaneously, your computer needs 7GB memory plus system required memory.

Operating System Requirements

The server software requires Windows OS. All Windows OS should work.

Internet Bandwidth Requirement for VoIP service

One voip channel requires 64KBps upload speed and 64KBps download speed since voice is a two-way communication. Normally the limitation is the upload speed. For example, if you have 25.6 MBps download speed and 6.4MBps upload speed, the maximum channels your internet can support is 100 channel. For Agent Dialer remote call forwarding, if the agent’s computer is not on the same local area network (LAN) as the server computer, additional 64Kbps per channel is required.

It does not need to be a dedicated server. The software can run on any server, desktop or laptop.

No. Voicent software has an open API that can integrated with any web server or SQL (MySQL/MSSQL). You can check out the Developer's page for more

Voicent software supports all types of phone services.

  • Any Session Initiation Protocol (RFC 3261) enabled SIP device is compatible with Voicent's software.
  • Internet Phone Service (VOIP and SIP Trunk): Almost all VOIP services, such as SkypeConnect, Vonage with soft phone feature, RingCentral, Callcentric, etc, are SIP based, so they can be used directly with Voicent software. For details, please see using VOIP/SIP for Voicent software.
  • PBX System: If you are currently using a PBX system, you can directly configure Voicent software to use it without any special hardware. For details, please see using VOIP/SIP for Voicent software.
  • Analog Phone line, MagicJack, Vonage Hard Phone: A Cisco SPA3102 PSTN Phone Adaptor, also called Voice Gateway is required for this type of setup. For details, please see Using Analog Phone Service for Voicent.
If you have a large call volume

For large call volumes (common for businesses), you'll need a wholesale VOIP service or a PBX system. Support phone services can be analog trunk, T1, E1, ISDN, PRI, and SIP Trunk. For Voicent software, it does not matter which phone service you choose. As long as your PBX system supports IP phone or IP extensions, Voicent software will work.

If you have a small call volume

For small call volumes, using a VoIP service is a good choice. Signing up for an internet phone service is quick and easy. There is no need for additional hardware or phone lines. All you need is a user account with a SIP service provider. The calling plan fees normally cost less than your hard line phone service. For more information, please see using VOIP/SIP for Voicent software

If you are making mostly local phone calls, an analog phone service from your local phone company is usually the least expensive option.

Voicent application programs including AutoReminder, BroadcastByPhone, Agent Dialer, Call Center Manager, Flex PBX, IVR studio, and BroadcastBySMS and BroadcastByEmail. In order for the application programs to work, a connection with the gateway must be established. We also offer Voicent Gateway as program developer's platform.

Click on the gateway icon on the taskbar, the status should be running. If Voicent Gateway failed to start, or if your program cannot connect to a running gateway, please check your firewall and antivirus programs. Your firewall or antivirus program needs to unblock the gateway. Your computer may contain a built-in firewall program that blocks Voicent Gateway from accepting connections.

Voicent Gateway normally listens on ports 8155, 8255, 8355, and 8455. The following processes (under the folder C:\Program Files\Voicent\Gateway\bin) are part of the Voicent Gateway:

  • vxengine.exe: telephony engine of the gateway
  • spengine.exe: speech engine of the gateway
  • vgate.exe: the gateway server and client program
  • javaw.exe: VoiceXML interpreter and application
