SIP Error: 403 Forbidden

I got Failed. Line occupied. SIP Error: 403 Forbidden. How do I fix that error?

Almost all “SIP Errors” are from your VOIP service. One problem with the error code and message is that not all VOIP services use the same code. For example, you could also get a SIP Error: 403 Not Subscribed error from other services.

There are a few things you can check to fix this error:

1. Make sure your VOIP account has enough money to make outbound calls

2. If you are using multiple lines, make sure your account support multiple channels. If you use callcentric, make sure you login to your account, and set “allow simultaneous calls” for your SIP settings.

3. It may need longer disconnect time to free up the “line”. Open Voicent gateway, select Setup > Options > Outbound, increase the hangup time to 30 seconds. If it fixes the problem, then reduce the hangup time.

4. Make sure you specify phone number in the correct format. Normally, in the US and Canada, you need to specify 1 for the country code. So if you are calling 123-456-7890, you need to specify 1-123-456-7890. There is normally no such a thing as a ‘local call’ for your VOIP account. You can do so also by setting a dialing rule on Voicent gateway.

If all of the above does not fix the problem, try to use a softphone (like x-lite) or Voicent AgentDialer semi-automatic dialing mode to call the number. You may hear more audio information as to why the call is forbidden.

If you still cannot figure out, call your VOIP service provider. Just ask them you are using a soft phone (x lite) to call, and the call is not connected. It is important not to mention you are using a dialer. This will confuse them. In many cases, they will simply say they do not support dialer when they cannot figure out what the issue is. Just tell then you are using x lite softphone. Most VOIP support technicians have experience with soft phone issues
