Did Carrier IQ record VoIP calls?

Already under seige for a stealth-mode app that collects large amounts of data from cell phones, Carrier IQ is now being accused of participating in VoIP call recording.

Videos alleging to show proof of Carrier IQ’s tracking of text, image, video and VoIP calls are getting tens of thousands of hits on YouTube.

TMCnet Contributing Editor Susan J. Campbell’s blog report notes that Carrier IQ has denied claims that it is snooping, saying it has only gathered information to track performance data for the improvement of services.
Campbell also reports that a senior official with Carrier IQ said that the YouTube videos do not show data being transmitted out of devices.

United Kingdom blogger Hazel Chua reports that “UK mobile networks quickly stated that they did not make use of Carrier IQ,” and that Google, too, has said Carrier IQ was not installed in any of its smartphones.
