1. How does the license scheme work?

Voicent license is fixed on a particular computer. It will not work if you move Voicent program to another computer.

The Voicent Gateway ID is a unique number generated based on your computer, such as the network card address (MAC address) and other hardware and software factors. A Voicent license file contains a gateway ID and can be installed only on the computer that has the same gateway ID.

Once you install the software, and test it on a computer, you can get your license by submitting your license request from Help > Request Product License... on the program main menu. Please make sure the computer you are using to apply the license to is the same computer you are going to use for the Voicent product. The request contains your gateway ID.

Once our system receives your license request, it will check our paid customer database before issuing the license file. The license file will be send to you through email.

2. Can I use the license in a different computer?

No, you cannot use the license in a different computer. It is locked to a particular computer.

One exception is that if you can move the network card to the new computer, then you can get a new license. Please see transfer license to another machine.

3. Do I need to get a new license when I install a new version of the software?

No, if it is the same major release. For example, all 2.x releases use the same license file.

If you have an older version of the software and would like to upgrade, you need to purchase an upgrade license. If you have an annual maintenance contract and it is not expired, you can get an upgrade license for free.

4. Do I need to get a new license if I reinstall my Windows operating system or reformat my hard disk?

Normally not. You can still use the same license file. If you have lost the original license email, please save the license file first before reformatting your hard disk. The file is under: C:\Program Files\Voicent\Gateway\conf\gateway.lic.

If the gateway ID changes, you can request a new license file. If the new gateway ID contains the same network card information, our license server will issue you a new license.

5. Do I get a discount for additional licenses?

Yes. Please check our online stores for pricing.

6. Can I transfer my license to a different computer?

Please see transfer license to another machine.

7. I changed my computer (adding memory, etc) and the gateway ID changed, what should I do?

If you are using the current release, just go ahead and request a new license key from Help > Request Product License... from the program main menu. As long as the gateway ID indicates the same network card address, you will get a new license key.

For older releases, we strongly recommend you upgrade to the latest release. You will not get any support for obsolete releases. You can upgrade online at our online store.

If you prefer to use the obsolete release, you need to pay the license key processing fee for obsolete releases ($99) first. Then email the log files under C:\Program Files\Voicent\gateway\logs to support @ voicent . com, indicating you need a new license key, and also include the order ID for the processing fee. As long as you are using the same network card, you should get a new license key.

8. The gateway ID changed and the license is no longer works, what should I do?

Please see the answer to the previous question.
