Carrier’s texting plan

Does my carrier have to support bulk SMS for us to us the software or how does it work

The software simply use whatever text plan you have. Think of the broadcast SMS software is mimicking a human being when sending out text messages one-by-one. Everything should be exactly the same, except the computer is much faster at sending out the message.

To send out text messages, Voicent software utilizes a GSM modem that connects your computer to your carrier’s cellular network. The modem requires a SIM card, which in turn identifies you and your text plan with the carrier. To the carrier, there is no difference whether the text message is sent from your phone or computer.

If you need to send out a lot of text messages, then you do need to see the fine print of your service agreement. Most carrier’s “unlimited text plan” do have fair usage policy and limitations on usage.

Using this text messaging software to broadcast remotely

If you need to or want to broadcast from a different computer, Voicent’s software has the capability of allowing you to do so. You must, however, have the Enterprise edition of the software.

To start a remote broadcast, select Broadcast > Broadcast Hosts… from the program main menu.

From the Voicent Gateway Servers dialog window, click Add New… button to specify the remote host where Voicent Gateway is running.

Enter the host IP address or name. Normally you select Auto Connect when program starts.

After you set up the gateway hosts, you can use the BroadcastBySMS program as if the gateway is on a local machine. The only difference is that the SMS message is sent from the remote computer.

You can find more information about all sorts of topics in the Product Walkthrough in the Help tab of the main program window, or online at Voicent’s website. If you’re ready to get BroadcastbySMS Enterprise, click here to download this text messaging software.

Creating your send list for outgoing text messages

There are four ways to create your send list:

  1. Manually type in phone numbers
  2. Copy-Paste phone numbers
  3. Import phone numbers from a file
  4. Auto generate phone numbers

They are all fairly simple,  with typing in and copy-paste self explanatory. If you have a comma separated file (CSV), you can import your send list to BroadcastBySMS. Simply select File > Import… from the program main menu. Then choose the file to be imported, and click OK. To generate, you type in a prefix, such as an area code, and then a range of numbers following that prefix to generate. Select List > Generate List… from the program main menu to invoke the Phone List Generator dialog window.

See how easy it is for yourself, by clicking to download Voicent’s text messaging software.

How to set up the text messaging software and SIM card

Voicent software is also capable of sending and receiving SMS messages. In order to do so, you must have a SMS service from your phone company. You also must have a SMS capable modem (different from voice modem) or mobile phone connected to your computer, usually through USB port.
To send and receive SMS using Voicent product, you must have:
1) A SMS capable modem(INCLUDED IN PURCHASE) or mobile phone, and
2) A SMS service plan from your mobile phone company
The instruction listed below is for setting up Voicent to use Zoom 4596 Tri-band USB Broadband Modem. Please note these modems are different from voice modems.
Plug In SIM Card: SIM card is used to identify your device to the phone company. When you activate your mobile service, you normally get a SIM card for your mobile phone (GSM service like AT&T). Take it out and plug itinto the Zoom 4596 modem.
1) Connect Modem to Your Computer: simply plug in the Zoom modem to any USB port.
2) Install Device Driver and Software: for the Zoom 4596 modem, the installation should be automatic.
Find the COM port used: From the Zoom 7.2M Tri-band modem software, select settings > Diagnostics, you should see the COM port listed.
3). Configure Voicent Gateway to use this modem: Select from Voicent Gateway main menu > Setup > Options > SMS tab, click the Add button, select the COM port that is listed in the previous step. Click OK to continue.
For iPhone User
You cannot directly use iPhone with this program. You must take out its SIM card and use the above Zoom modem.
Use Other Devices or Phone
Not all GSM phones can be used for your computer to send and receive SMS. To do so, the device must be able to connect to a computer and its driver must support the AT command set for SMS.

Voicent’s text messaging software goes very interactive

Not only does Voicent’s BroadcastbySMS text messaging software broadcast and send out an unlimited amount of text messages, but it also can collect and process responses from message recipients and record them.

Setting up the interactive feature is extremely easy with the Message Designer in the program, and a full explanation can be found in the Product Walkthrough–Collect Response in the Help tab of the program.

The built-in Message Designer supports basic interactive messages. However, it is limited to one level of interaction, i.e., collecting response only once. To design more flexible messages with multiple levels of interactions, such as interactive survey or integration with other software systems, you need to use Voicent IVR Studio. You can install it from the same Voicent installation package.

New interactive text messaging software is easy to set up and use

What do you need to use this new software? Not much. Just

1.A Windows desktop or laptop computer
2. A text message plan from a mobile phone company like AT&T
3. A GSM modem for text messaging (included in the purchase)
That’s all. No fancy hardware, no extra fees to purchase anything else.

Setting it up is equally simple.

1. Download and install BroadcastBySMS software.

2. Insert the SIM card to the GSM/SMS modem. Your phone company will give you a SIM card when you sign up for your cell phone plan for voice, date, or text. If you add text message feature to your current cell phone plan, you will use the same SIM card for your cell phone. In this case, you can take out your mobile phone’s SIM card and insert it into the modem.

3. Plug the modem into your computer’s USB port.

4. Specify the COM port used by the modem for Voicent Gateway. You only need to do this step once.

5. Load you phone list and click the send button.

Easy and simple.

Text Messaging (SMS) Software for Personal Use and Marketing

Voicent’s new BroadcastbySMS text messaging software, in Release 8, is the newest product to join the BroadcastBy series and has many features for broadcasting by super popular text messaging.

The key feature is interactive text messaging. This capability, along with the message customization feature, allows the software to process text responses automatically.

In addition, by using Voicent IVR Studio, you can set up inbound text message applications. For example, you can setup the system to send text information about product A when receiving incoming text ’123′ and send text information about product B for incoming text ’345′.

The second special feature is that Voicent text software does not require you to sign up with a SMS center. The software uses your own text plan from a cell phone company. It is the same as you sending out text messages from your cell phone..

You can also use this new software for marketing, but because of the personal nature of cell phones (and the fact that many people must pay for or have limited allotments of text messages) marketers should use this technology the same way they use fax and email technology–through opt-in programs in which recipients specifically ask to receive messages in that format.

Whatever your motive, you can try out the software by clicking here to download.
