You’re impressed by power of VoIP tools? You ain’t seen nothing yet!

Last week’s national media exposure for Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone software got us thinking about the innovative side of VoIP technology.

We suspect that, where use is concerned, the innovation hasn’t even begun yet!

Many people use tools such as BroadcastByPhone to save time dialing numbers and dealing with busy, signals, answering machines and other black holes of productivity.

Tools like BroadcastByPhone will do the dialing for you, then hand you the phone when an actual human being finally answers.

As last week’s Associated Press story about Voicent indicated, there are many other uses for such tools:

  • Delivering payment or delivery reminders
  • Keeping volunteers up to date on projects
  • Managing event invitations and RSVP reminders

Last week’s story noted the success communities are having using Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone to police illegal roadside signs.

We’re sure there are many more uses yet to be discovered.

How are you using BroadcastByPhone?

Challenge dismissed, Voicent continues to ‘patrol’ the clean streets of Hollywood

Yesterday, the City of Hollywood, Florida’s use of Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone software was the subject of an Associated Press story. Produced for print and broadcast media by AP’s Miami Bureau, the story received national publicity.

Coincidentally, on the same day, the Broward County Sun-Sentinel newspaper was reporting on a challenge to the legality of City of Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober’s program using Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone to barrage the owners of illegally posted signs with phone calls.

The verdict: Keep on calling!

The complaint, filed with the city’s ethics commission, was dismissed for “legal insufficiency.”

The commission noted that the inexpensive and highly-efficient program was not unethical.

Voicent shining as a big star in Hollywood (no, not that Hollywood)

Of all the ways we’ve heard of how Voicent’s BroadcastByPhone software is used, our absolute favorite is law enforcement.

Communities around the world are using BroadcastByPhone to aggressively notify the owners of illegally posted signs that they are in violation of the law.

Today, the Associated Press published a national story on Hollywood, Florida’s use of BroadcastByPhone for just that purpose.

The story, written by Kelli Kennedy, quotes city Mayor Peter Bober and other city officials who say BroadcastByPhone has reduced illegal signs by 90 percent is some areas.

The Voicent story is being carried by news organizations around the world, including ABC NewsCBS News and the Huffington Post.

The story identifies Voicent by name, but also mentions but does not identify another communication software company’s product, used by the community of Oakland Park.

The story notes that Oakland Park is using their software for the same thing as Hollywood, but with one big difference–their software is charging them 9 cents per call.

Voicent has no per-call charge or any other kind of usage fee. You buy it once and own it for life.

Maybe we should give the mayor of Oakland Park a call. :)
