Define IVR Choice Element

I tried to design algorythm in IVR Studio but get that message after validation:

Warning : (BBP Outbound Call) No element is defined for answering machine

Error : (YES) No touch tone key is defined. Must have child element
Error : (NO) No touch tone key is defined. Must have child element

The first warning message means that under the “Answering Machine” node, there is no element defined. When the system calls a number and it is answered by an answering machine, the system looks under the definition under “Answering Machine” node to see what it should do. If there is no element, it simply hangs up and continue. If you have an element like a Prompt element, then the system plays the defined prompt.

The next two error messages indicate that you have a Choice element, but the choices of the element is not defined. For example, if you have a Choice element and you want to set “press 1 for yes, and press 2 for no”, you need to add two child element under the Choice element as follows:

1. Add one child element like a prompt element under the Choice element. Select Properties of the child element, named it “yes” and set “touch tone key response is: ” to “1″ under “transition from parent element”. You could also define the prompt properties for the child element, which will be played after “1″ is pressed.

2. Add another child element under the same Choice element. Select Properties of the child element, named it “no” and set “touch tone key response is: ” to “2″.

Now you should have a choice element with two child elements, one defined for “press 1 for yes” and the other for “press 2 for no”.

Intel to enable PCs to wake up for phone calls

The following is from AP news wire:

Intel Corp. is unveiling new technology that will let computers wake up from their power-saving sleep state when they receive a phone call over the Internet. Current computers have to be fully on to receive a call, making them impractical and energy-wasters as replacements for the telephone. The new component Intel is announcing Thursday will let computers automatically return to a normal, full-powered state when a call comes in. The computer can activate its microphone and loudspeaker to alert the user, then connect the call.

The first Intel motherboards with the Remote Wake capability will be shipping in the next month, said Joe Van De Water, director of consumer product marketing for Intel. These components, which are at the heart of every computer, will most likely be used by smaller computer manufacturers. Bigger names like Dell Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. use their own motherboard solutions, but Intel is working to supply them with the technology as well. The four initial Remote Wake motherboards will be for desktop computers and will need an Internet connection via Ethernet cable, as Wi-Fi doesn’t work in sleep mode.”

This is great news for Voicent IVR users who rely on Skype for incoming calls.

IVR: Call transfer failed with Skype

Cannot call transfer, Skype account used is showing a Internal Error 13501. Any ideas why this is happening would be appreciated?

The log file shows: failed transfer to 2140001234 (real number removed) Call transfer failed: Misc error

Looks like you need a 1 in that phone number. In Skype, all US numbers must have 1 as its prefix. Other countries use different prefix, for example, china is 86.

Normally you can also see the error message from the Skype Window.

Thank you that fixed it!
