Settings needed if you use Web Proxy
I got an error message “Failed to verify license key” and the gateway won’t start. How can I fix that?
When gateway starts, it first verifies the license key with our license server online. So your computer must be online all the time. This is normally not a problem for most customers. If your computer is temporarily offline, you can restart the gateway, it usually fixes the problem.
One special situation is when the computer is behind a corporate firewall, and all web traffic must go through a “web proxy”. To see if your computer uses a web proxy or not, open Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options… from the main menu. Select the “Connections” tab, Click on “LAN Settings” or “Settings” button according to your current Internet connection used. Check to see if the proxy server is enabled.
Voicent software can detect web proxy automatically, so in most cases you do not need to do anything. However, newer Windows OS may not set the proxy settings for all users, especially the “SYSTEM” account, which is the Windows account to start Voicent Gateway service.
To specify a proxy server for the local system account, use Windows regedit program and modify the following key:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\DefaultConnectionSettings
You can copy the value from the current user – export the same key from HKEY_CURRENT_USER and import it into HKEY_USERS\S-1-15-18
Once done, reboot your computer.
