Vonage softphone and SIP

Here is the good news. You can use Voicent software (starting with release 7) with Vonage directly (You do not need voice modem and the Vonage router/ATA box). Calls can be directly routed from Voicent software to the Vonage VOIP (SIP) service. But you must have the Vonage Softphone feature for your Vonage service.

Standard Vonage service is locked to the router/ATA they send you. It is not possible to connect to it through SIP.

However Vonage does sell an addon service called Vonage Softphone. Some Vonage business plans may include the softphone feature. Once you have this feature, you can use Voicent software with Vonage without a voice modem and the Vonage router/ATA box.

Configure Voicent to use Vonage

In your Vonage account you will want to use your SIP extension settings. Open Voicent Gateway, select Setup > Options > SIP tab. Enter the following:

SIP ID: *Your SIP/Auth ID* example: VH123456
Domain: *Domain listed in your settings* example: sip-72999.accounts.vocalocity.com
User: *Your SIP/Auth ID* example: VH123456
Password: ********

You can enter in any text in display name.

If your computer is behind a router, you need to setup a STUN server. We recommend using the default stun.xten.com or stun.counterpath.net.

Setup caller ID

When voicent make calls it makes it as a unknown number. Is there anyway I can use my cell phone number to fix that problem.

Voicent software has no control over the caller ID displayed. The caller ID display depends on the phone service you are using:

1. If you use a voice modem and analog phone line, then the caller Id is whatever assigned to that line by your phone company

2. If you use Skype, then you can setup your caller ID by login to your Skype account on Skype’s website. You can either set Caller ID as your mobile number or your SkypeIn number

3. If you use SIP based VOIP service, the caller ID is also controlled by the VOIP service. Some services do not offer caller ID at all. You should contact your VOIP service provider for more details.

Add 0 prefix for french phone number

in the agent dialer, in the spreadsheet, how can you place a 0 before the number? A regular French phone is composed like this : 01 77 88 99 All French numbers begin by 0.

You do not have to do that in the spreadsheet for every number.

Open Voicent Gateway, select Setup > Options > Outbound tab. Set “dial 0 for outside number”. Basically, you pretend you are using a PBX system that needs to dial 0 for outside line. In effect, the 0 is automatically added to every phone number in the spreadsheet.
