Skype for SIP

I checked Q & A and know that Voicent does not fully support skype v4.1. however, I cannot use skype v3.8 because my OS is not compatible with the old version of Skype. When are you planning to support Skype 4.1 officially?

Whenever Skype for SIP is out of beta.

SIP is the standard for Voice of IP (VOIP). Nowadays, almost all VOIP services use SIP. The only notable exception is Skype, which uses its own proprietary technology. The good news is that Skype is going to fully support SIP soon, and the Skype for SIP program is currently in beta.

Once Skype supports SIP, you can use your Skype SIP credential (your skype SIP user name and password) to configure Voicent to use Skype directly – meaning Voicent software can make and receive phone calls throught the Skype network without running any Skype instance. So regardless of the Skype version (whether 3.8 or 4.1 or later), you should be able to use Voicent through Skype SIP. And since the current Voicent release already supports SIP, there is no need to change Voicent software when Skype for SIP is ready.

Configure phone service

Hi, I dont know if you can help me about tthis matter. I try to use your product but I keep on gething “ERROR: Cannot make phone call: Voicent software is not configured to use any telephone service”. And I have my skype 3.8.0 runing what can I do? thank you

This means Voicent Gateway is not linked to the Skype instance yet.

Please open Voicent Gateway, select Setup > Options > Skype tab, then choose Manual start mode. Restart Gateway. Restart Voicent application like BBP or AgentDialer.

How many agents will your software support?

The recommended phone service for Voicent predictive dialer is to use Voice over IP (VOIP). With VOIP, there is no need for any telephony board. The following answer refers to VOIP based predictive dialer software (agent dialer).

The short answer is unlimited if you purchase the enterprise edition. Unlike hardware based solution, Voicent predictive dialer does not need a hardware “port” for each agent. To the software, an agent is simply an internet connection for phone audio and control commands. The flexibility allows easy configuration of agents, where they work at the office or remotely at home.

Ofcause, there will be limit to the number of agents, but the limit is not from Voicent software, but from hardware capacity and internet/network connection bandwidth. For details of hardware requirement, please see hardware requirement. It is also recommended to download the software and give it a try.
