Setup dialing rule for Skype

no matter what I do to this number. skype tries to call romainia. I have tried 1-206-xxx-xxxx and My dialing options are set to add a 1 to all ten digit numbers and delete area code for local calls.

For Skype, there is no concept of local and long distance phoen calls. All US and Canada numbers are 10 digits, with a 1 at the beginning. 1 is the country code for US and Canada.

Please do not set “remove local area code”. This option is mostly for analog phone lines. If it is set, it will remove 1-206 from the 11 digit phone number. And that’s why it calls Romania.

Just set “add 1 to 10 digit phone number. And specify 10 digit or 11 digit phone number to call.

Skype limitation of 50 outbound calls per day

Hi, I’m a current voicent user and I love the product. Skype is now limiting calls to 50 a day and I need about 100 so I read about adding another skype account and to be used with my autodialer program. After I get a 2nd skype account, how do I incorporate into my voicent program so that I can make 100 calls per day without additional skype charges? Thanks

Yes, it is unfortunate that Skype sets the 50 calls per day limit for its “unlimited calling plan” without providing an alternative. Most people won’t mind to pay them more for an account with higher daily limit. We are currently working on supporting SIP in release 7. Once release 7 is ready, you will have more choice of VOIP service providers to use with Voicent products.

Using multiple Skype accounts is a feasible workaround. You have two choices to make it working with Voicent.

1. Switch to a different Skype account manually

After 50 calls, stop AgentDialer and exit. Open Skype window, sign out and then sign in using a different account. Restart Voicent Gateway by clicking the Start/Stop button on the gateway main window. Then open AgentDialer and start again.

2. Use “line rotation” feature

“Line rotation” is a feature that is available in the Enterprise Edition. It basically allows you to start as many lines as you wish, with a different Skype account for each line. Then each line will be rotated in to make an outbound call. Once the call is made, the line will be rotated out and the next line will be rotated in. The system maintains the number of active lines to be the same as the number of licensed lines. For more details, please see new Skype fair usage policy.

Failed to start Skype line

I have chosen the manual start of skype because the auto start option didn’t work. when I start Gateway it ends with Eror; Wait authorization for accessing Skype. status: failed to start. I have provided a password and and user account forgateway to use. It must be some thing I missed.

You have to go to SKype window and set allow voicent to access it. Just click the error message for Help. You can also take a look at the help video by clicking the video link on Gateway main menu > setup > options > Skype window.

When I look at the Skype window-tools-options-advanced-allow other programs accesss to Skype. There is no evidence that gateway has tried to access Skype. There is no Skype event related to authorization

If there are two Skype instances running on your computer, one is running in another login session, and the other the current one. The gateway is probably trying to connect to the Skype instance that is in another login session. That’s why you do you see the Skype event in the current login session.

You can login to that account, and take care of the Skype authorization (for vxengine.exe) event, then switch back to the original account, restart the gateway.
