Run multiple instances of Skype
You can run multiple instances of Skype, but they must be running under different Windows user account. This is a Skype limitation, not a limitation of Windows OS or Voicent software.
- On Windows 2000/2003/XP, you can run Skype using a different Windows user account by the following two method:
- On Windows Vista, the above methods are not working. This is again a limitation of Skype. To run multiple Skype instances under Windows Vista, please do the following:
1. Right click on the Skype icon while pressing down the Shift key, select Run As… from the popup menu. Enter the windows user name and password to start Skype
2. Select Windows Start Button > Run…, then type in the following command:
runas /user:username "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
where username is the Windows user account name.
1. login to a Windows user account, start Skype, and sign in. Do not log out, instead do a Switch User.
2. login t a different Windows user account, start Skype, and sign in.
After you started all the instances of Skype, you need to restart Voicent Gateway in order for the gateway to recognize all the running Skype instances.
If you anticipate heavy usage on your Skype account, please take a look at Blocked Skype Account.
