Migrate Autodialer to Another Computer
Hi can you provide me steps on what to backup and restore since we are thinking of migrating voicent broadcast by phone to another machine (newer and faster hardware).
I know the license key is on the network controller which I have as a USB wifi card, but I need to know what needs to be backed up so everything else would be insynch when I restore the data and database on the new machine (same software just newer/better hardware).
There are basically two kinds of data for Broadcast by Phone. The first is the data created by the program, such as settings and customized messages; the second is user created data, such as recorded audio files. You need to copy all the audio files you created and used by Message Designer. We will not know where they are. To find out, open Message Designer and take a look at the included audio files.
To backup and migrate the broadcast by phone data, please do the following:
1). Uninstall all Voicent programs
2). Go to C:\Program Files\Voicent\BroadcastByPhone folder, and back up the following sub-folder: conf, data, message. The message folder is used to save voice messages from the person called. If you never used that option in Message designer, it could be empty. These audio files are not the one you created.
3). Install Voicent program on the new computer
4). Copy the content of the backup sub-folders to the corresponding folder
A note for windows vista user: Windows Vista uses folder virtualization, so some of the sub folders and contents are saved under Document and Files instead of C:\Program Files. The virtual folders are usually under:
C:\Users\{your windows login name}\AppData\Virtual Store\Program Files\Voicent\BroadcastByPhone
