Will Voicent software work with my VOIP service or system
This is a very common question and there is an easy way to find out.
1. Check whether your service or system (like PBX) allows you to use a soft phone to make and receive calls.
If not, then it won’t work with Voicent software directly. (However, you can still use Voicent software by using a voice modem, providing that your PBX or service offers an analog phone line adapter. For example, if you use MagicJack, you can connect it to a voice modem, and then use Voicent software to make and receive phone calls)
2. If it does support soft phone, then make sure it uses the SIP standard.
The best way to check is use a free softphone called X-Lite to test your service. Please contact your service provider to get more information about configuring a SIP softphone. Or you can use Voicent software to test. Each line started by Voicent software acts as a softphone.
(Some VOIP service, such as Vonage, does not open its SIP credential. So even it maybe SIP based, no other softphone, include Voicent, can access the service. BTW, Vonage offers a router/adapter so it can be used with Voicent software through a voice modem)
3. If you can get a SIP based softphone (like X-Lite), then you should be able to use Voicent software with your VOIP system or service.
