Auto dialer transfer call to softphone

I’m using VOIP with Voicent. Can calls be transferred to a softphone?

It should. To Voicent program, a call transfer is implemented as a conference. One leg/channel of the conference is the orignal call, and the other is the call to the transferred number. The program does not care whether it is a softphone or physical phone, as long as your VOIP service can reach that number, the call will be connected/transferred. If your softphone has a regular phone number associated with it, then specify the 11 digit number (US and Canada) in the gateway call transfer tab. If it does not and you use a SIP ID, then specify sip:your_id@your_voip_service.com for the transferred number.

However, it is usually not a good idea to transfer to a softphone. Since a softphone must be run on a computer, you have to pickup the call using your computer. With that settings, you should use call transfer to computer option for Voicent gateway (Setup > Options > Call transfer). With transfer to computer, you have the following benefits:

1. The transferring call uses Voicent internal communications between the gateway and Voicent RemoteAgent program. This method does not use a VOIP channel for transferring the call, thus will save your VOIP minutes

2. You will see a popup screen on the computer for the transferred call. The popup screen has information for the call, such as name, phone number, and any other info you have on the spreadsheet.

3. The audio quality is normally better than transferring to a real phone or softphone. There is less communications needed for the transferring phone audio.

4. The RemoteAgent program is actually works like a softphone but offers more feature. For example, you can click a button to play an audio message during the call.
