Use g729 for auto dialer
Can the Gateway support the g729 protocol. I understand this protocol uses a lot less bandwidth per call
No. There are two main reasons, one technical and the other financial.
G729 is a codec with more compression. Though it saves you bandwidth, it does sacrifice audio quality. The low audio quality is OK for phone conversation, but is not good for detecting human vs. answering machine, and thus not suitable for auto dialing or predictive dialing.
G729 is also not free. Since most of our customers do not need this codec, the cost becomes very high if we are to provide this codec. The licensing fee is going to be too much for a few customers who need it.
