How to make the phone number more audible and understandable in Text-to-Speech
Question: When we give a phone # for them to call back on, what is the best way to enter the text (using TTS) for the phone # to be most understandable. Sometimes the voice seems to rush and run the #s together.
Is it better to:
a. Put a comma or period after each number
b. Use the word and not the number (six instead of 6)
c. Or is there some other way to make the # be spoken a bit slow 2 4 0 9 9 9 1 2 3 4
Answer:
If you have Voicent IVR Studio, you can setup the prompt type as a phone number, and the system will take care of it.
If you want to do it yourself, then a number list with space in between usually works. But the effect depends on the TTS engine you use.
