SIP Dialer

A SIP dialer is a VOIP dialer.

SIP refers to session initiation protocol, which is a widely adopted VOIP standard. Most VOIP service providers today supports SIP. The notable exception is Skype. For Voicent software, both SIP based VOIP and Skype are supported.

A SIP dialer, such as Voicent Broadcast By Phone autodialer or Voicent Agent Dialer, also can be configured to use traditional phone service by utilizing a SIP compatible PBX system. For many companies that are currently using VOIP for their phone service, chances are they are using a SIP compatible PBX system. If a company is currently using a hosted PBX solution, chances are the hosted PBX supports SIP.

To tell whether you can use a SIP dialer or not with your current VOIP service, simply see whether you can make and receive calls from a softphone, which is a piece of software with a telelphone interface. Notable sip softphone that is free is the X-Lite sip softphone.
