How can I slow down the speed of the Text to Speech reading? Where are the settings for this?
Voicent uses the default Windows settings for Text-to-speech. To access and change the TTS settings, stop the gateway first, then go to Windows Control Panel > Speech.
In our experience, the default speed is usually the best. It is more important to choose a good TTS engine. The free ones like Microsoft Mary and Microsoft Sam are older TTS engines and the generated voices are hard to understand. The new Microsoft Anna is better. You may also consider other commercial TTS engines, like those from ATT and Neospeech. Click here for more info on using TTS for Voicent software
I have purchased the 4 line system but only currently have 1 active phone line and 3 modems installed. How do I specify to use just this one modem and how do I discern which modem is connected to a phone line?
To disable a modem, go to Voicent Gateway > Setup > options > modem tab, then select the modem and set it to “Do not use”. You cannot tell which listed modem is connected to a phone line from this dialog. The order is not necessarily the order of PCI slots. You can only figure out which one to enable by trial and error.
