Getting License Info
I just tried to download the National DNC List onto my BBP software and it told me that I am “limited to one number being scrubbed because I must have the Professional or Enterprise Edition” ? Does it think that i have a free edition? I do have the Professional! In fact I just upgraded to your latest release. The properites of the BBP program are dated March 2010 (when I updated my Pro to new version) so I am confused how it thinks I do not have the Professional. Does running the Gateway have ANYTHING to do with this thinking that way? I am not running the gateway currently on this but I am bringing in a list I saved to my desktop. How should the gateway off affect the list being imported and scrubbed? Does only the gateway (when turned on) know I have the professional license?
Yes, the BBP software is opened as “shareware” if the gateway is not running. All the license information are kept at the gateway. If you just need to run DNC check, not making calls, you could turn off the gateway after the BBP program is started.
You can check the edition on the BBP title bar.
Setup Caller ID
Caller ID would really help me out when using BroadcastbyPhone but I don’t know how to accomplish it or even if it CAN be accomplished. There are a few organizations where I live that use it when doing broadcast phoning. One is a congressman and the other is the township that I live in. How can I make Caller ID work using Voicent?
Caller ID is not a function of Voicent, but of your phone service. For example, if you call from your home phone, it will display your caller ID of your home number, but you can use a different telephone and the caller ID will still be displayed correctly. For now using release 7, you have three choices for phone service:
1. Traditional phone service
The caller ID will be displayed automatically. No need to setup anything. You can even block your caller ID by dialing some prefix first.
2. Skype
Normally, Skype will not display a caller ID. But you can show a caller ID of your mobile phone number or SkypeIn number. But you have to set it up on Skype, not Voicent.
Depends on your VOIP service, normally it won’t display a correct caller ID either. What you need to do is to get a call in number (called DID number) from your VOIP service company. That DID number will be displayed whenever you call. For example, if you use callcentric VOIP service, it will display the DID number you purchased.
