Voicent software upgrade policy

Question:

I was also under the impression that when I purchase my system that I received free updates. Please clarify if I actually have to purchase another license

Answer:

The upgrade of minor releases are free, and upgrade of major releases are not free. So if you have Release 4 license, you have all the free upgrade within the same major release of 4.x.x. You only need to pay upgrade when there is major release, such as upgrading from release 4 to release 5.

If you have paid annual maintenance and support, and the major release is within the contract time, your upgrade is free.

Advantages of Enterprise Edition vs Professional Edition

Question:

We had a rather significant issue with our IVR system yesterday. I am pleased to report that our automated IVR tests using Broadcast by Phone were very helpful in discovering and diagnosing the problem.

I have been getting many complements from peers and management in how I have been able to utilize your software for our automated IVR tests and my boss wishes to expand its usage.

What value does the new Enterprise Edition have over the Professional Edition in version 5.0? We have a pretty big company and I’m sure that if there is a possibility of adding value at a reasonable price our management will be interested.

My boss is considering purchasing a second license and modem so that we will have a test machine that won’t interfere with our production machine. So, I am looking at a best price option.

Answer:

There are many advantages of 5.0 Enterprise Edition. But for your application that drives BroadcastByPhone, the main advantages of 5.0 Enterprise Edition are:

1). You can run BroadcastByPhone and Voicent Gateway on different computers. They will communicate with each other by HTTP, and there is no limit where you can run the client program, as long as you are within the limit of licensed concurrent users. So your application will not be limited on the gateway machine.

2). The other advance of 5.0 is that you can have one client program (broadcastbyphone) to control multiple Voicent gateways, so if you want to have volume testing with say 8 lines, you can do so easily with 5.0 enterprise edition. You do need multiple BroadcastByPhone enterprise edition licenses in order to use multiple gateways.
