Birthday song over the phone

I’m a music composer from India. I compose personalised songs for various occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I liked you Voicent product very much and it can be very helpfull for me to play the personalised song to the person celebrating the anniversary/birthday/wedding… over the phone. But the below four modifications are needed. Please let me know the possibilities.

Thank you for trying Voicent product. You can simply use Voicent Auto Reminder for your application. The following are answers to your questions

1) I would like to attach different songs to different customers in a day

First, use the built-in Message Designer to create a call message (template), and in the message, play the attached audio file which is your birthday song. When you schedule a call, you can specify the customer name, phone number , and attach the specific song for the customer for to the call, and make sure you select the call message (the one you designed using Message Designer)

2) I would like to have different time schedules for different customers (because my customers lives in different countries, I have to send the personalised songs at different timings in a day)

Each appointment (scheduled call) has its own call time.

3) Audio file of 8khz is sounds like a very poor quality. I want to play an MP3 song to the customer.

The PCM 8KHz 16bit, mono is the global standard for telephone audio. So even you have a great MP3 format, once it plays over the phone (especially to traditional landline), your audio format will be 8Khz. So it is actually better to have the original song in the 8Khz format.

4) Provide an option to schedule all the unfinished calls by time set by us…

Yes, you can simply edition the appointment and reschedule the call time.

Alarm notification system

I am a developer at a company that markets a remote monitoring system that uses GSM and satellites. Basically if a one of our units detects an alarms status it sends the alarm data to our database and we have a service running on our server that polls the database and a telephone call is generated to the client that owns that unit.

We have two goals in mind. One is trying to remove the hardware portion of our alarm (call) notification system that is attached to our company phone system and the other is speed up the lag time between alarms events and actual calls going out. We looked at a simple solution with Skype but it will not provide the service we need. They have restrictions on amount of calls and different numbers called. We also need a “friendly” caller ID number to appear so call recipients will know it is us calling.

We do not need to accept incoming calls. We need to automatically make multiple concurrent, text to speech, outgoing calls and/or texts to different clients as alarms are received from units. We make as many as one to hundreds of calls a day to one to hundreds of different contact points. We need to be able to write the service in house and have it connect to BroadcastByPhone via a .Net API or by sending requests via XML/http requests and not have to install any hardware.

Does this sound like something BroadcastByPhone can do for us?

Yes, this is a typical outbound call application. With Voicent software, you only need a computer with internet connection. So you can remove the hardware that’s attached to your phone system.

To make phone calls, you also need to sign up to sign up for a VOIP service that supports SIP. Actually almost all VOIP services today support SIP, including Skype (which is called Skype Connect). A SIP account can have multiple channels, each channel for making one call at a time. These VOIP services normally offer Caller ID for their account (called DID number). One example service is Callcentric.

The next thing is to see how many channels you need. To have the least amount of delay for alarm calls, you can take a look at your previous history of the maximum number of simultaneous calls. The delay is usually caused by waiting for a line/channel to be freed.

You can interface with BroadcastByPhone or with Voicent Gateway. If the message is simple, you can use the Simple Call Interface. Each has its advantages. For more details about Voicent interface, please see Developer Home.

SMS Broadcaster

I purchased the voicent broadcast by phone last year. I do like it. I am wondering if you know of a program that will allow me to send text messages from my computer, and not using a GSM phone, just internet connection, or skype or something

If not using a GSM phone, then some service must forward the SMS message to a SMS phone. Luckily, almost all US mobile companies have email to SMS gateway, which forwards email as a SMS message to its subscribers. The good news is that these email to SMS gateways are free to use. For example, if you want to send a SMS message to 6501234567, an ATT customer, you can simply email to 6501234567@txt.att.net. The following are a list of all email to SMS gateways:

teleflip.com (Teleflip)
message.alltel.com (Alltel)
paging.acswireless.com (Ameritech)
txt.att.net (ATT Wireless)
bellsouth.cl (Bellsouth)
myboostmobile.com (Boost)
mobile.celloneusa.com (CellularOne)
mms.uscc.net CellularOne (MMS )
mobile.mycingular.com (Cingular )
sms.edgewireless.com (Edge Wireless )
messaging.sprintpcs.com (Sprint PCS )
tmomail.net (T-Mobile )
mymetropcs.com (Metro PCS )
messaging.nextel.com (Nextel )
mobile.celloneusa.com (O2 )
mobile.celloneusa.com (Orange )
qwestmp.com (Qwest )
pcs.rogers.com (Rogers Wireless )
msg.telus.com (Telus Mobility )
email.uscc.net (US Cellular )
vtext.com (Verizon )
vmobl.com (Virgin Mobile )

To broadcast by SMS, you can actually use Voicent BroadcastByEmail product.

The only drawback of this method is you must first know the mobile phone company of a particular phone number. You may email to all the gateways, and when you get a reply, update your list. But we are not recommending this way. The best is to ask your customers for their phone numbers as well as their phone companies.
