Move NIC card

I have 2 nic cards on my computer and use them both. I want to move the software to another computer. I know I must move one of the nic cards to the other computer, but how do I know which nic card was used by the software?

Which release do you use?

7.1

To find out the NIC card that is tied to your license key, you can pretend to send a license key request again. Select Help > Request Product License… from the program main menu. The program should launch your web browser and open the license request web page. If you have multiple NIC cards, you should be able to select the gateway ID from the drop down list. Under the gateway ID, it should display the NIC card information.

If the NIC card is on the motherboard, you will not be able to move the card to another computer. But since you use release 7, you should still be able to transfer your license key to another computer. All you need to do is pay the $25 license transfer fee Buy Now, and the request a new license key from the new computer.

“Access Denied” Error Message

I’ve downloaded Release Version 7.1.1 and installed it and the gateway. Then I installed Broadcastbyphone, once that button became clickable. When I click on Broadcastbyphone to run the program a message box comes up that says “access denied”, and once you click to acknowledge the message, the program closes. How do I use the “shareware version” that I see advertised? Where is it located on the website? Is it the default version of an install or something separate? I just want to test it out before we buy it, even if there is a Vocient advertisement with the calls.

The error is likely related to your firewall settings. Please select Help > Troubleshooting .. for more information.

Thank you for your reply. I checked my firewall settings and “Voicent Gateway Telephony Engine” was checked by default. But, you leading me to check Window’s Settings got me thinking. And I remembered a “run as administrator” option that gave me trouble with installs before on Vista. So, I tried that and alternate clicked on the Broadcastbyphone icon and hit “run as administrator”, that was the culprit. Then everything loaded with no errors. I was able to setup a “.voc” calling list and a new message designer just like the video tutorials. So, I’m just writing back, in case someone else has this error on Vista, you can let them know another possible culprit in addition to firewall settings.

Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. Really appreciated.

Will Voicent software work with my VOIP service or system

This is a very common question and there is an easy way to find out.

1. Check whether your service or system (like PBX) allows you to use a soft phone to make and receive calls.

If not, then it won’t work with Voicent software directly. (However, you can still use Voicent software by using a voice modem, providing that your PBX or service offers an analog phone line adapter. For example, if you use MagicJack, you can connect it to a voice modem, and then use Voicent software to make and receive phone calls)

2. If it does support soft phone, then make sure it uses the SIP standard.

The best way to check is use a free softphone called X-Lite to test your service. Please contact your service provider to get more information about configuring a SIP softphone. Or you can use Voicent software to test. Each line started by Voicent software acts as a softphone.

(Some VOIP service, such as Vonage, does not open its SIP credential. So even it maybe SIP based, no other softphone, include Voicent, can access the service. BTW, Vonage offers a router/adapter so it can be used with Voicent software through a voice modem)

3. If you can get a SIP based softphone (like X-Lite), then you should be able to use Voicent software with your VOIP system or service.
