COM Port

When you connect a GSM modem or phone to your computer, usually through a USB port, the communicate channel is through a COM port. You must specify the COM port that corresponds to the modem or phone.

Click the Add button to specify the port. All the available COM ports on your computer should be listed. To find the correct COM port, you normally can get that information from the software that comes with your phone or modem.

Check Error Message Sent From:

Your SMS service provider usually sends error message from a particular number. When this field is specified, Voicent Gateway will check the messages sent from the number.

Invalid Number

When a SMS/text message is sent to an invalid phone number, such as a regular telephone number instead of a mobile number, your SMS service provider will send you back an error status message. For example, if you send a message to a landline phone number 16501112222, you may get a message from a specific number like 1121611161 like the following:

16501112222 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code…

In order for Voicent Gateway to understand the error message (there is no standard format), you must tell the software how to parse it. In this case, you can specify "%s Error Invalid Number." in the box labeled "contains". The %s tells the software where in the error message the telephone number will appear, and what else to look for such that the error message is referring to an invalid number. In the example, you also need to specify 1121611161 in the box labeled "error message is sent from".

SIP Options

On Premise Software Help Resource : Help TopicsSIP Options

With SIP, you do not need a physical telephone line to make phone calls. You do not need a voice modem either. For more information, please see http://voicent.com/sip.

After getting a SIP account from your service provider or your PBX system administrator, you should be able to make phone calls using a SIP soft-phone, which is a piece of software capable of making phone calls over the Internet. There are many free SIP soft-phones, such as X-lite, available for download. Once installed, try to make a few phone calls to make sure it works. Voicent software starts each SIP line as a SIP soft-phone. So as long as your SIP soft-phone is working, you should be able to use Voicent to make phone calls.

The SIP account information should be the same information you use for setting up a soft-phone. If you are not sure, call your service provider and ask for help to setup a soft-phone. (Please do not call Voicent since we do not have that information)

The STUN server is used for firewall traversal. If there is a router/firewall between your service provider and your computer, you normally need to set this value. Otherwise, you might not hear audio for your phone call. You can use the free STUN server listed in the Window.

SIM Card Full

On Premise Software Help Resource : Help TopicsCannot receive SMS. SIM card storage is full

When SIM card storage is full, the device cannot receive incoming text messages. If you expect responses from your SMS application, you must delete some messages in your SIM card storage.

You could use your phone to delete messages. If you use the Zoom tri-bank GSM modem, you could run the Zoom software to delete messages also.
