Conduct Political Survey

I had a question about your product. I am intersested in conducting political surveying. I would like to ask people on my list their opinion on several specific questions. i am curious about your touch tone response capability. How many responses can I ask for from each person dialed? How is their responses captured thanks

Yes, Voicent products should be perfect for this purpose. First, you need Voicent BroadcastByPhone auto dialer for outbound calls. Second, you need Voicent IVR Studio to design your survey applications. There is no limit on how many responses you can have. Since these two products are fully integrated, all the touch tone responses will be captured in the BroadcastByPhone spreadsheet window.

With IVR Studio, you can design subsequent questions based on previous responses. For example, after receiving response for press 1 for Spanish and press 2 for English, the subsequent questions can be specific to the language choice.

In addition, both Voicent BroadcastByPhone and IVR Studio contains integration API so it will be easy to interface with your own system, such as your voter database. For example, you can set a callback function such that your database is updated after each phone call. You can also set up automatic email if someone presses a certain touch tone key, etc. The possibility is almost limitless.

Upgrade and Moving Appointment Data

If you simply upgrade Voicent AutoReminder, the appointment data, program settings, etc are automatically upgraded.

If you move the software from one computer to another, you’ll have to move the data manually. Here are the steps:

1) Find AutoReminder program folder on the old and new computer, it is usually at “C:\Program Files\Voicent\AutoReminder”, or “C:\Program Files (x86)\Voicent\AutoReminder”

2) Find AutoReminder data folder on the old and new computer. For Windows XP or earlier OS, the data folder is the same as the program folder shown above. For Windows Vista or Windows 7, the data folder is “C:\Program Data\Voicent\AutoReminder”. (Please note that “C:\Program Data” folder maybe hidden. If that is the case, enable view hidden files from Windows Control Panel > Folder options)

3) Move the following folders: appt and data (under the AutoReminder data folder) from the old computer to the new. The appt folder contains all scheduled appointments, and data folder contains program settings and any customization info.

4) Restart AutoReminder on the new computer to verify if the appointment is there

One complication is to migrate the reminder calls already scheduled. The above steps will not schedule them on the new computer. We recommend you simply reschedule these appointments if it is not that many. Otherwise, keep the old computer running for some time in order for it to finish previously scheduled reminder calls; and use the new computer for scheduling new appointments. Once all the previously scheduled calls are made (check Voicent gateway > Operation > Scheduled Calls), you no longer need to run the old computer.

What is a “line”?

I couldn’t find the explanation of a “Line” in the side panel., is it correct to assume I can dial and send a recorded message to one telephone per line at a time, i.e., if I want to send the same message to 20 different people (telephone numbers) at the same time I would need 20 lines?

Yes. Traditionally, a “line” is a physical telephone line, so to make 20 simultaneous calls, the system needs 20 physical lines. With VOIP service, there is no physical telephone line. A VOIP “line”, also called a “channel” is a virtual line over the internet connection. Conceptually, a VOIP line handles one phone call at a time. To make 20 calls over a VOIP service, you need 20 virtual lines or VOIP channels.

Scalability: the cost per line drops as the the number of lines in a package (Enterprise) increases, as it should and just to make sure, if I upgrade from say 20 lines to 40 lines I pay the difference between the two packages?

The upgrade price is not the same as purchasing together. Please check our online store for upgrade pricing. It is normally much cheaper to purchase a system at once.
