Check upcoming appointment

Is there anyway to check when a patient has an upcoming appointment? Patients will call and need to know when their next appointment is, how do I look this up?

There is no search function in the current release. So the only way is to visually inspect the appointment book.

As a workaround, you can do a Windows file search (right click on the folder and select search) on the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Voicent\AutoReminder\appt

Please type in the patient’s name in the box below: A word or phrase in the file

You can use Windows Notepad to view the resulting .apt file. The appintment date and time should be listed in the file.

Set Windows File Search Options

If the search does not find any file even though you know the file is there, you need to do the following.

If you are using Windows XP, for example, the search for the .apt file (the file that contains appointment information) is not included. To configure Windows XP to search all files no matter what the file type, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP and then turn on the Index file types with unknown extensions option.

If you use this method, Windows XP searches all file types for the text that you specify. To do this:

Click Start, and then click Search (or point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders).

Click Change preferences, and then click With Indexing Service (for faster local searches).

Click Change Indexing Service Settings (Advanced). Note that you do not have to turn on the Index service.

On the toolbar, click Show/Hide Console Tree. In the left pane, right-click Indexing Service on Local Machine, and then click Properties.

On the Generation tab, click to select the Index files with unknown extensions check box, and then click OK.

Close the Indexing Service console.
