Call Forwarding to an Outside Line with Voicent Software

When I broadcast out with your Auto Dialer, I want people to be able to press 1 to transfer and forward that call to my office phone. Do I need anything extra to make that work?

When Voicent software forwards an active call to an analog phone, such as an office phone, the software will need an additional phone line available to transfer the call. This is because when forwarding to an outside line the software has to dial and connect to that outside line (analog line/office phone etc.) using another phone line before successfully connecting the transfer. These extra lines are necessary for every call you wish to transfer for call forwarding. If you have two outbound lines that you want to forward calls with, you will need four total lines from your provider.

Please note for call forwarding that while you do need extra lines from your provider, you do not need to license additional lines for the call forwarding process. As an example, if you have a license for BroadcastByPhone with two lines and you want to utilize call forwarding for both of those lines, you will need four lines from your provider but the two line license does not need to be added to.

If you use Voicent Dashboard to receive transferred calls, you will not need any extra lines for transfers.

Using Voicent Software to dial a number and enter an extension

We need to make direct extensions calls. For example: Put the number as “9056153200,5888” to call the extension 5888 under 905-615-3200. We tried but failed. What is the solution?

Yes, this is definitely possible however it will require “IVR Studio” software. Below are the steps required to set this up.

  1. Within “IVR Studio” create a BroadcastByPhone Outbound Application.
  2. On “BBP Outbound Call” node select “BroadcastByPhone Column” and add a new column named “Extension” as “Text-to-speech“.
  3. On the “Live Answer” node, right click select “Add Next Element” and select Prompt. Give the prompt a unique name.
  4. On the newly created prompt right click and select properties, on the “Prompt” page select “New…” and check “BroadcastByPhone Column” radio button.
  5. Select the column name we created in step 2.
  6. Select “Prompt Type…” and click “DTMF tone“.
  7. Repeat the above steps to create a a prompt for the “Answering Machine” node.
  8. Select OK and save your IVR Studio design.
  9. From the main menu options at the top select “Deploy” and select “Validate“.
  10. If the validation succeeds select “Deploy” and click “Submit to Gateway…
  11. Now that it is deployed in BroadcastByPhone under “Broadcast” menu select “Select Message” and select the one we just created. In order for it to show up you may need to restart your Voicent Gateway & BroadcastByPhone software.
  12. Once the message is select the “Extension” column in BroadcastByPhone will automatically be created.

Below is an example picture of the IVR Studio design:

Below is an example of the Extension column within BroadcastByPhone after the deployed IVR Studio message is selected:

When “BroadcastByPhone” calls the number in the list, the IVR Studio design will take whatever is in the extension column and once the call is connected will automatically enter whatever is in that column on the phone system letting it ring to an extension.

Why should I pick Voicent software over VICIDIAL?

VICIDIAL may be free, open source software but if you are planning on using software like an Auto Dialer or a Predictive Dialer for your business then there are several reasons why you should pick Voicent software over VICIDIAL.

Within our software suite you can make use of an Auto Dialer, a Predictive Dialer, an integrated CRM database, Appointment Reminder software, and more. All Voicent programs automatically and seamlessly integrate with each other, meaning you spend far less time trying to get the software to work and more time closing sales.

And on that note, Voicent software is much more user-friendly. Making use of VICIDIAL requires far more technical knowledge to operate. For example, VICIDIAL requires the use of Asterisk servers, while Voicent software easily works with any sort of VOIP or physical phone line. Voicent software also makes use of a familiar spreadsheet interface making it far easier to get started on dialing your leads.

Voicent is also able to offer much more comprehensive support options. We can help you setup the software and train you in its use. We are able to offer custom solutions for your business, such as IVR applications or customized database access, making the use of Voicent software far more flexible.
